13 cases, both male and female, ages 20-36, with addiction to opium derived substances (10 severe and 3 mild) were given 10 minutes of foot reflexology, along with acupuncture, and treatments on their backs. After the sessions, the patient's abstinence syndromes were gone and they were back to normal.

Foot reflexology in conjunction with acupuncture, was found to be effective for the relief of abstinence syndrome.
