Synopsis:

A 14 yr old male with lower extremities weakness and atrophy from a young age was diagnosed as pseudohyper-trophic muscular dystrophy. After unsuccessful treatments with Western and traditional Chinese medicine, he was given 8 foot reflexology treatments and began to feel warm sensations in his upper body and some in his lower extremities. After 1 treatment, he regained strength in his hands and some movement in lower extremities. After 2 treatments, he was able to lift his hands above his head and strength in his lower extremities. After 3 treatments, he was able to move his upper extremities freely, stand up and move around. After 4 treatments, he was able to walk with a came. After 6 treatments, he could take care of himself, work and walk better.

Conclusion:

Foot reflexology was found to be effective for relief of the symptoms associated with pseudohypertrophic muscular dystrophy.
