Synopsis:
A 60 yr old man with a hiatus hernia complicated by antral gastritis and chronic cholecystitis was given 3 sessions of foot reflexology. His symptoms included retrosternal burning sensation, epigastric fullness and satiety, hiccups and a poor appetite. Pain became worse after drinking alcohol and eating fatty meat and peppery food. He also had vomiting and regurgitation after a full meal, bending or squatting. After 3 sessions, all symptoms were cured. He had not more pain after drinking alcohol and peppery food, he gained weight, and did self foot reflexology which kept him in good health. Results: anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects were achieved by improving circulation, normalizing metabolism, and making use of blood and lymphatic immune function.
Conclusion:
Foot reflexology was found to be effective for the relief of hiatus hernia with complications of antral gastritis and chronic cholecystitis.
